You are in need of a dresser, right? You can't afford the high-end stuff from popular websites, so you resort to local selling apps and marketplaces. Some people even have their parents or grandparents' furniture in the garage or storage.
Well, here's a quick and easy way to modernize those exact pieces.
First, know that older furniture is built differently than today.
Second, older furniture will have lots of little dings and scrapes that tell a story of the piece when it was used.
Finally, embrace that these two things are in your possession and now it's time to bring it into 2023!
Take for example this piece, it belonged to a lady who had them in storage and they belonged to her parents before that. The dresser, one of two items I purchased from her, was in good condition overall. The top had two big scrapes which I sanded out slightly. Two big gauges that I filled in with plastic wood putty. And several little scrapes throughout. The drawer fronts had hardly any damage.
The drawers needed some glue at the joints which I was able to repair in a couple hours. I painted the whole thing with BEHR Marquee paint in green. I had some gold legs purchased from Amazon that I decided to install after the paint dried. See links below for legs and paint.
Once I did that, I had to change to the hardware. So, I headed to Lowe's for these small but sophisticated drawer pulls in brushed brass. And I love them! At just under $6 a piece I didn't hesitate because I knew it would complete the transformation.
Take a look at this beauty now. The dresser was $70. The legs were about $15 for a set of 4. The pulls were about $54 total. Paint was another $19-$20 for a quart. 4 hours of labor and another 2 for the hardware and legs. However, I was a little short of a complete makeover. I pulled out a small paint brush and gold metallic paint, added several coats of that to the corner details of the dresser and Voila!
Now it's complete! Check out links below to RENEW your dresser and get this look.
